Caroline Grothues

Summer Instructor
Caroline is stoked to be spending a summer in Yosemite, a place that feels like home away from home. For the last 8 years, she has been dedicated to growing and learning as an outdoor educator and cannot wait to continue that journey with ARC! Her love of experiential education began at the University of San Diego where she earned her B.A. in Business Administration and spent much of her time leading various trips for their Outdoor Adventures program. Caroline joins the team with a deep appreciation for the Sierra, where she has spent countless nights leading backpacking expeditions for a local summer camp and supporting NatureBridge Yosemite’s environmental science programs. She first became certified in Wilderness Advanced First Aid in 2018 before becoming a Wilderness First Responder in 2021. In her spare time, you can find Caroline climbing, playing board games, bird watching, and cooking with friends.

She has led hiking and paddling trips throughout the southeast, from the Appalachians to the Outer Banks, and in Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce Canyon, and Everglades National Parks! In her free time, you can find Sadie cooking with friends, playing a ferocious game of Rummikub, curating the perfect playlist, and participating in any and all outdoor activities (but her favorites are hiking, hammocking, and eating picnic lunches).
