Adventure Risk Challenge wrapped up its programming for 2013 with a Ski and Snowboard day at Squaw Valley in Lake Tahoe. 21 students and 9 volunteers partnered with SkiDUCK for free day of skiing and snowboarding. The majority of these students were new to ARC.
17 students took lessons in the morning, while the rest of us explored the resort. This helped greatly in the afternoon when we took the gondola up to the top of the mountain. One more ride up Gold Goast Chairlift brought us close to the summit. Getting down from here was an adventure for some of the first-time snowboarders! Several students decided to unstrap their boards and hike down, peacefully enjoying the beautiful views of the mountains and lake rather than risk another tumble on the board. Through perseverance, good attitudes and some creative snowsliding, we managed to make it back down to gondola.
Everyone left the wondering when the next ski day would be. Keep your eyes and ears posted for 2014! We’ll see you there!
