Board
Cathy Farnsworth
Professor of Law, McGeorge Law School
Cathy Farnsworth has been a supporter of ARC since 2007, when her son became a summer instructor. Cathy joined the ARC Board in 2020 and serves on the Fundraising Committee. She has previously worked with non-profits including the United Farm Workers, where she ran a service center and participated in organizing workers in support of a union contract. She also served on the board of a non-profit daycare center in Sacramento. Cathy is an avid supporter of environmental programs and spends time in the Truckee area hiking and bird watching. The direct connection ARC creates between a wilderness experience and youth literacy programs, and the success this approach has generated in encouraging academic achievement and the opportunity for higher education, inspires her to spend her retired time actively supporting ARC.

Since being a wilderness instructor himself back in the early 2000s, Chris has been passionate about wilderness education and the impact nature can have in developing youth. Chris believes in ARC’s mission to empower underserved youth and is excited to partner with ARC to realize their vision. Now with two boys of his own, Chris continues to value the life and leadership skills gained by introducing kids into the backcountry.
