ARC summer graduate and Young Professionals Board member, Gustavo Garcia, was on ABC in Sacramento last week! He promoted ARC’s summer course (applications are due on April 23), and he celebrated our partnership with Tahoe Fund. Gus shared at the end of the interview, “Right now, I am in college studying political science at the University of the Pacific and competing on the speech and debate team. ARC made me feel like I could actually go to college…I am a first generation American, and [ARC] gave me access to a support system that’s always there.” Click here to watch the news clip.
In an April 2 article in the Sierra Sun, Meg Sandman, a Tahoe Fund board member, shared why they generously supported ARC’s programming in 2020-21: “The goals of the ARC program are well aligned with those of the Tahoe Fund, and on behalf of our donors, we are pleased to contribute to their efforts to inspire the next generation of outdoor enthusiasts and environmental stewards. It is incredibly rewarding to support opportunities for local students to spend time outdoors learning and experiencing things they can’t get in a traditional classroom atmosphere.” Thank you to Tahoe Fund and all of the foundations and donors who have supported ARC in this year of uncertainty and adaptation!
As a final reminder, ARC summer applications are due on April 23. If you know a high school student who you think could benefit from an immersive literacy and leadership summer course, share the application now!
